Pedestrians in downtown ring of 2nd District (which contains the only low income census tract in the city) must negotiate dangerous intersections to make short walks to parks and shopping
Within a 1/4 mile radius there is the neighborhood park, post office, train station, grocery store and restaurants. It also contains 15% of pedestrian collisions and 2 of the 3 pedestrian fatalities in the city.
All 3 of the pedestrian fatalities in the city occurred in the 2nd District
The safety plan approved by the city council provides only paint (install edge-lines and centerlines)
